11 languages to be used for workers when they receive offers, labour contracts

So Read your Contract Before signing --Dhs 20,000 fine if employer not allowed to read contracts.
The Ministry of Labour has approved 11 languages to be used for workers when they receive offers, labour contracts and other paperwork following the new labour laws that were brought in at the beginning of the year.
Humaid bin Deemas, Assistant Under-Secretary for Labour Affairs, said: “Arabic and English are two main languages in each job offer, labour contract and annexes presented to the worker currently, and now an additional third language can be used that the applicant can understand. This applies both to workers coming from outside and those residing in the UAE that seek a new job or are required to move from one company to another.”
The other approved languages are Bengali, Mandarin, Dari, Hindi, Malayalam, Nepalese, Sri Lankan, Tamil and Urdu, reported national news agency WAM.
The languages were chosen according to statistics highlighting the highest number of workers using them.
“Workers must look into job offers and annexes in their preferred languages before signing the contracts to reach a healthy work relationship between both sides. Annexes must be reviewed as they hold a number of labour laws and amendments,” bin Deemas said.
The ministry also announced that employers face a Dhs20,000 fine if workers did not go through the paperwork before signing the labour contract
